Our Flood and Water Management Team carry out our duties as Lead Local Flood Authority and sponsor Sheffield’s programme of flood schemes.
The team works closely with Sheffield residents and businesses and our partners to help protect people's homes and livelihoods from all forms of flood risk in the city.
- The Environment Agency, the authority for the city’s main rivers
- Yorkshire Water, the owner and operator of the city’s sewers
- Amey, the Streets Ahead contractor maintaining the city’s roads
The Environment Agency works to protect communities from flooding and to help them prepare for flooding. They do this in many ways, such as working with local communities to build awareness about protecting themselves; clearing blockages from rivers; sending out warnings and building and maintaining defences.
Yorkshire Water manages the city’s sewerage systems and own the reservoirs that serve Sheffield. They provide drainage and sewerage infrastructure to new development.
